CALL FOR PHD FORUM, ICNP 2015

AIMS & TOPICS OF INTEREST:

The PhD Forum has been a regular event of the IEEE ICNP conference for the past few years. This forum is intended for both doctoral students who are starting their PhD and those who are towards the end of their dissertation to discuss their work.

Each student, whose paper is accepted to the PhD Forum, will be expected to present their work in a short talk at the PhD Forum. This will enable you to discuss your work and interact with all of the ICNP conference attendees and the PhD Forum attendees. PhD Forum participants who also register for the main conference will receive special consideration for student travel grants. UPDATE: The winner(s) of the best paper award will be allocated a slot for presentation at the main conference! IMPORTANT: Students with accepted papers to the PhD forum must at least register at a main conference student rate, if they are not a full rate registered author of a main conference paper.

The topics of interest coincide with ICNP 2015 (see the CFP page). Representative (but not limiting) topics include:

• All aspects of network protocol research including design, specification, verification, implementation, measurement, testing, and analysis.
• Domain-specific solutions including protocols for network security, routing, user privacy, and network management.
• Application-layer protocols for peer-to-peer systems, social networks, and emerging systems.
• Contributions to network architecture, e.g., specific algorithms and protocols for software defined networks, network virtualization, or future Internet architecture.

WHY SHOULD I SUBMIT:

• Special opportunity to discuss research plans and results face-to-face with professors and senior researchers.
• Inspiring keynotes and/or panel discussions.
• Publication of accepted papers in the IEEE ICNP proceedings and submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore.
• PhD best paper award.
• The winner(s) of the best paper award will be allocated a slot for presentation at the main conference!

HOW TO SUBMIT:

Authors are invited to submit extended abstracts of up to 4 pages, in IEEE conference proceedings format (2-columns). All submissions will be peer reviewed.

The submission should include:

• A summary of the student's dissertation research (up to 3 pages) including a brief discussion of motivation, challenges, related work, and initial results. Students should clearly highlight the problem they address and identify their contributions to the field of networking protocols design and analysis.
• A biographical sketch (1 page) describing the student's affiliations and research activities, as well as the date that the student expects to complete his/her dissertation.
